A Historic Villa Reimagined

In the heart of Oslo, just a stone’s throw from the Royal Palace, a 19th-century English Gothic villa has been given new life. Known today as Villa Walker, the building has been transformed through a three-year renovation into a vibrant home for art, music and culture. The project, initiated by Norwegian musician Alan Walker and his team, set out to create not only a residence but also a creative hub for artists and cultural collaborators.

Tradition Meets Innovation

Respecting the villa’s history while introducing modern functionality, the renovation celebrates both tradition and innovation. Spaces for collaboration, music production and meetings are designed to inspire, and every detail has been chosen with care.

A Unique Collaboration

For this unique project, we at Hørning were proud to collaborate with Parkettstudio AS, our long-standing partner in Norway, to supply bespoke wooden flooring. Together, we created something extraordinary. The majority of the villa features Whalebone oak parquet laid in a herringbone pattern, a classic choice that adds warmth and timeless elegance to the interiors.

A Signature Detail in Wood

At the heart of the floor lies a truly distinctive detail: Villa Walker’s own logo, precision-cut from merbau and inlaid seamlessly into the parquet. Executed with outstanding craftsmanship by Parkettstudio, this feature reflects the building’s identity as a creative landmark and underlines the power of detail in design.

A Trusted Partnership in Norway

Parkettstudio has, for many years, been a trusted partner for us in Norway, consistently delivering technical excellence and a keen eye for design. Their showroom in Oslo, at Hoffsveien 11, is itself a testament to the possibilities of solid wood flooring and a source of inspiration for architects and designers.

A Living Canvas for Culture

Villa Walker stands today as an inspiring example of how architectural heritage, contemporary creativity and uncompromising craftsmanship can come together to create something more than a home: a living canvas for culture.
