A Landmark for the Future of Work

In 2023, the Welcome Building opened its doors in the heart of Bristol, redefining what a modern workplace can be. Designed by Darling Associates Architects and delivered by Tristan Capital Partners and Trammell Crow Company, the 207,000 sq. ft. development is already seen as a landmark project for sustainability, wellness and flexible working.

With some of the largest floorplates in the city, spanning 22,000 to 30,000 sq. ft., the building offers adaptable layouts tailored to the needs of diverse occupiers. At street level, a dynamic ground-floor space brings the community together, complete with a café bar, breakout areas, and site-specific public art by Dorcas Casey in collaboration with Bricks Bristol.

Sustainability and Smart Design

The Welcome Building is a fully electric development, connected to Bristol’s Heat Network and powered by zero-carbon energy from Castle Park. It has achieved WiredScore Platinum and SmartScore Gold certifications, is targeting WELL Platinum and BREEAM Outstanding, and is one of only three buildings in Bristol to hold a 5-Star NABERS Design for Performance rating.

Solid Foundations in Oak

To complement the project’s ambitious design, we supplied HØRNING Solid Line oak flooring, finished with clear oil and installed by Loughton Contracts and Jared Pace. Durable, expressive and produced with certified wood, Solid Line delivers both the visual warmth and the technical performance required for high-traffic, flexible workspaces.

The flooring helps tie the interiors together, supporting the architects’ vision of creating a workplace that feels as inspiring and human as it is functional.

Raising the Standard

Already shortlisted for two major industry awards, the Welcome Building sets a new benchmark for the future of workspace in the UK.
