The Beginning of a Tradition Spanning Generations
In 1925, in a small workshop in the small city of Hørning, Denmark, master carpenter J.M. Jensen crafted a floorboard that would become the foundation for Hørning’s journey. With the natural qualities of wood as his starting point and a dedication to quality and craftsmanship, this first solid parquet marked the beginning of a tradition that lives on to this day.
Jensen believed that carefully selected wood and meticulous craftsmanship should unite to create something timeless - a philosophy that has shaped Hørning’s floors, which not only complement architectural visions but also enhance their aesthetic appeal.

As we prepare to celebrate our 100th anniversary, CEO and co-owner Peter Vissing reflects on the company’s history:
"What began as one man’s passion for wood and craftsmanship has grown into a global story of quality and sustainability. We continue to honor J.M. Jensen’s legacy while writing new chapters, combining tradition with innovation."
In 2025, we’ll mark our centenary with the campaign 100 Years, 100 Stories. Throughout the year, we’ll share stories spanning from the humble workshop in the small city of Hørning, Denmark to our contributions to iconic projects worldwide.
Peter Vissing elaborates:
"We’ll use this milestone to share the stories that connect us - from our collaborations with architects and designers to the floors that have become part of historic buildings. Hørning is more than a product; it’s a story of people, visions, and the very best nature has to offer."
Join us on this journey as we share the stories that have shaped who we are today.
